This exciting project included the external restoration of the existing Whangarei railway station, and repurposing of the interior spaces into dedicated spaces for the Whangarei Men’s Shed. Careful attention to the historic features of the building was given, with detailed references back to historic photographs & records, while still providing purpose designed functional spaces within the existing category 2 heritage listed building envelope. This project has help to keep another historically significant building within the Whangarei community, and ensure that it will be enjoyed and remain a part of the city’s future.
